Sant'Angelo - Le Residenze

Everything was truly positive, but what stood out the most was the unique experience of sleeping in a traditional local building that has been beautifully updated with modern comforts. The table on the veranda adds a special charm to the atmosphere, making it a perfect spot to enjoy the surroundings. The location is excellent — very close to major tourist attractions and offering breathtaking views. The fact that the room feels almost like an annex to the city itself gives a unique sense of connection and makes the experience of staying in Matera truly authentic.

Well what a beautiful, very special hotel in a cave! Lovely, extra touches and terrific table and chairs outside our door to watch our he passing parade. Staff too couldn’t have been more obliging especially Michaela who was always busy around the hotel, very obliging and who couldn’t have been more helpful.

We loved everything about this hotel. Very clean and spacious. The breakfast was superb, we were looked after by Micheal who could do enough for us. The breakfast selection was fabulous and fresh. Everything in the room was spotless, slippers, robes etc. Would recommend.

The location was just perfect, right in the most beautiful part of old historical Matera. Our room was even better in real life, than it was in photos. The bed and the sheets were really comfortable, loved having a bath instead of a shower, and the breakfast was lovely. (Be prepared for a challenge of currying the luggage anywhere in historic area of Matera - Sassi. It's a limited traffic area zone. The option is either to pay a lot for parking and take a shuttle bus, or to park on your own, and curry the luggage up and down the stairs)

This is a gorgeous and exotic hotel. Our was a cave artistically transformed into something other-worldly. We checked in late and there’s no reception after 15:00 but Michele the next day was warm and welcoming and makes an excellent breakfast. He saved this review.
